Born in La Rioja on September 27, 1916, he died in the same province in 1989. A self-taught painter, he identified with the landscapes of nature, plains and mountains, which he captured in his works. His first solo exhibition, held in 1945, received the acclaim of critics and collectors. He held a solo show in 1968 and participated in group exhibitions at art venues in Buenos Aires and throughout the country. He won several awards and received several acquisitions. His work is represented in national and international private collections, as well as in the Government Palaces of La Rioja and Catamarca and in the Fine Arts Museums of La Rioja, Córdoba, and San Juan, among other provinces. Barrionuevo, aspiring to greater verisimilitude in his drawing, produced images with a photographic tendency. He worked with a palette of earth tones and blue lead tones. Luis Orecchia. Dictionary of Plastic Artists in Argentina by Gesualdo, Biglione and Santos, Editorial Inca, Buenos Aires, 1988.
