Painter Léon Huygens was born in 1876 in Brussels and studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts. He specialized in landscape paintings, especially from the Sonian forest and the coast of Nieuwpoort. During the First World War, he served as a war artist. He spent the end of his life in Paris.
