Beulah Strong

(American/KY, 1886-1951)

The Artist’s Table

In-painting visible under black light. Signature visible under black light.

Beulah Strong studied under Jules Lefebvre and Gustave Boulanger at the Academies Julien and Colarossi (1887-1892). Upon her return to the States in 1892 she accepted a position at Potter College in Bowling Green, Kentucky and then taught at Smith College in Massachusetts until her retirement in 1923. Interestingly, a still life by Beulah Strong was the only work by a female artist bought by Carl Brandt when initially building the collection at the Telfair museum in Savannah, Georgia.
